Provenance
• Original name was Hawthorne and first commissioned by Verity Halvorsen (daughter of Carl Halvorsen). Original fitted with straight-8 Chrysler engines, and constructed without the existing flybridge
• Kristina (Hawthorne) was originally commissioned to take part in a special race (name unknown) on Pittwater against her sister vessel (also name unknown.)
• We believe that at some stage prior to his death in 1959, “Quiz King”, Jack Davey, had some association with Kristina (Hawthorne), either as owner, or through his association with the Verity Halvorsen (maybe he had something to do with the original “race”?)
• Next owner was Raymond S Lilley and was outfitted (circa mid-1970’s) with 120HP twin Bedford engines
• At some time in the 1970’s she was berthed as part of the Coast Guard Fleet at Gosford.
• Current BMW engines were installed sometime in the mid 1980’s
• Jeff ? bought her in 1982 and installed the current flybridge. It was also Jeff who changed her name to “Kristina” in honour of Jeff’s daughter.
• Current owners, Mark Langsworth, Michael Spackman and Nicholas Yates (along with Gary Reid), purchased Kristina from Cottage Point Boatshed in July 2001 (as broker for Kevin Dryland of Secret Harbour, WA). She was then in a major state of disrepair and was restored at Cottage Point Boatshed (Russell Tyler). External (and extensive) woodwork repair was primarily conducted by Alan Barrett of Phoenix Marine, Rozelle. New navy interior was provided by Balmain Marine Interiors in 2002
• Current navy canvasses were installed in 2012
• She is currently maintained with the expert assistance of Marty Arbuthnot at Southernwaters Marine Services
• Kristina was berthed at Camerons Marina, Phoebe St Balmain for a number of years, but now resides at Campbell Street Marina, Balmain.
