BOAT BUYER'S AGENT

Your boat. Our expertise.

Buying a boat should be exciting, not overwhelming. Our Boat Acquisition Service puts an experienced marine professional in your corner, from finding the right vessel through to negotiation, inspections and handover.

Whether you're a first-time buyer, upgrading, or searching for something specific, we simplify the process so you can decide with confidence. We search the whole Australian market, not just our own listings.

With more than 20 years in the marine industry, from working aboard superyachts to brokering and managing boats in Sydney, we bring practical knowledge, market insight and a trusted network of surveyors, mechanics and brokers to your next purchase.

What is a boat buyer's agent?

When you buy through a brokerage, the selling broker is appointed by the owner and works for the seller. A buyer's agent works for you. Rather than relying only on advertised listings and what the seller tells you, you have an experienced marine professional helping you find the right vessel, understand its condition and value, and negotiate the right terms.

Our promise on our own listings: if a boat we're selling for one of our clients is the right fit for you, we'll tell you upfront that we act for the seller on that vessel, and we won't charge you an acquisition fee. You only pay us to find, assess and negotiate on boats we don't represent.

OUR ACQUISITION PROCESS

From the first conversation to handover and beyond, we look after every step of your purchase, wherever the boat is in Australia.

Every brief is different, so we tailor the search to you. Here's how it works:

  • 01. Personalised consultation: your budget, boating experience and intended use, plus the brands, size, layout and features that matter to you.

  • 02. Market research & vessel sourcing: brokerage listings, private sellers and off-market opportunities across Australia, shortlisted with asking prices compared against similar boats.

  • 03. Inspections & assessment: presentation, equipment, condition, service history and suitability, with photos, video and honest feedback before you travel.

  • 04. Negotiation & purchase: we deal with the seller and their broker for you, negotiating price, terms and the right conditions in the agreement.

  • 05. Due diligence, surveys & sea trials: independent surveys, mechanical inspections, slipping, sea trials, service records, inventory and ownership checks, explained in plain terms, with repairs or price renegotiated where needed.

  • 06. Settlement & handover: we coordinate settlement, documentation and handover with the selling broker.

  • 07. After you buy: registration transfer, insurance broker introductions, boat transport and a new home for your vessel wherever suits you, plus servicing reminders, maintenance records and ongoing boat management.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a boat buyer's agent cost?

Our service starts from $1,200. The final fee depends on the vessel and how much searching, travel and inspection is involved, and we confirm it in writing before we start.

I've already found a boat. Can you still help?

Yes. We can inspect it, check its asking price against similar boats on the market, coordinate the survey and sea trial, and negotiate on your behalf.

Do you only show me boats you're selling?

No. We search the whole Australian market. If one of our own listings suits you, we'll say so upfront and won't charge an acquisition fee on it.

Can you help if the boat is interstate?

Yes. We search Australia-wide and can send inspection photos and video before you travel. Travel costs are quoted separately.

Who pays for the survey and mechanical inspection?

Surveyors, mechanics and slipways charge for their own work, separately from our fee. We organise them, attend where needed and explain the results.

What happens after I buy?

Our client care doesn't finish once you've bought your boat. We'll help with the registration transfer, introduce you to trusted insurance brokers, arrange boat transport and find your vessel a new home, wherever suits you. We keep all your maintenance and service records on file and keep you up to date when servicing and other items are due.
